Here’s an insider’s look into a Travel Talk tour to Egypt.
Day 1 – Welcome to Egypt! A complimentary shuttle will pick you up from Cairo airport and will take you to the hotel. Once everyone has arrived you will all gather in the lobby to meet the tour guide and other tour members. After the meeting has finished you’re free to explore Cairo and search for lost treasures throughout the markets.
After breakfast on day 2 you will get to see the Giza Plateau to discover the well-known pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycrenos. The afternoon is left to sightseeing in Sakkara and then a bus to Luxor where you’ll check into a hotel by the Nile River.
On day 3 you will leave for the West Bank of the Nile where a donkey awaits to take you into the Valley of the Kings. After this you will discover the superb “City of the Dead” where tombs were stamped into the desert rocks, ornamented splendidly, and packed with treasures for the Pharaoh afterlife. Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut is your next stop. Once finished we drive to Aswan for and overnight stay.
You will start to explore Aswan which is situated on the Nile on day 4. It is famed for the incredible Philea Temple and High Dam, an engineering sensation when it was built in the 1960s. After this you take a motorboat ride to Philea Temple. Philea Temple has many shrines and sanctuaries to commend the divinities involved in the myth of Isis and Osiris. Later in the afternoon, you will embark the Felucca to cruise along the Nile.
Sail all day long on the Nile on day 5. Whilst being fascinated by the culture as you pass by the locals and amazing scenery, you chill out and relish the tranquil atmosphere of one of the utmost rivers in the world.
On day 6 you disembark the Felucca and head to Edfu to visit the biggest and greatest conserved temple in Egypt which is devoted to the falcon god Horus. You then continue to see Komombo Temple which was built during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. After the sightseeing you continue on to Luxor.
You get to see the temple of Luxor on the East Bank of the Nile on day 7. This temple was dedicated to the great god Amun, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu (the mood god), representing the Theban triad. Later in the day you go to the Temple of Karnak, one of the most important religious centres of ancient Egypt. In the afternoon you drive to Cairo for an overnight stay.
Day 8 takes you to visit one of the utmost significant museums in the ancient world, the Egyptian Museum. You will also get to uncover the Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and the world famous Kahn El Khalili bazaar.
Today is the last day of the Felucca Odyssey tour. Your tour will finish after you say cheerio to your new friends over breakfast and we bus you back to the airport and bid you safe travels.
